The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal law that required the creation of national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge. A comprehensive and thorough assessment for HIPAA Compliance was successfully completed, by SVAM, to address mandates for the HIPAA Privacy Rule, HIPAA Security Rule and the HITECH Breach Notification. This Certificate validates the processes and practices implemented for ensuring HIPAA Compliance, as applicable, for a Business Associate.
The Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise program is designed to assist the growth and development of businesses owned and controlled by women and minority groups. An important activity of the program is to increase the participation of those businesses in the procurement activities within Nassau County government.
