Overview

In the bustling offices of the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, performed various tasks on a day to day basis. One of the key tasks they performed was serving subpoenas to different providers as part of their investigations. These providers, such as AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Meta and its subsidiaries, etc. each have unique service requirements ranging from email, fax, or website upload. These specific requirements made the process complex, time consuming and far from easy.

Challenges

  • Each provider had unique service requirements that had to be followed and once the subpoenas were sent, the responses came in various formats, making it a challenge to distribute them to the concerned ADAs and update internal databases.
  • The DA's office had to serve hundreds of subpoena duces tecum requests each month. This meant that all incoming responses had to be accessed through different mechanisms according to the provider's specification, making it a monotonous process and prone to manual errors.
